SCAPA SS12 PRESS PRESENTATION

Monday the 10th of October 2011 Antwerp, Belgium.

What starts out as a chilly morning is gradually turning into a beautiful autumn day. As if summoned, the sun finds her way through the windows of the magnificent Scapa Mansion and gives the final touch to the event of today: the SCAPA & SCAPA SPORTS SS12 press presentation. The various rooms of the house are decorated to complete the story behind the collection and when walking through the chambers you feel the vision of the designers.







The collection takes us back to the graceful years of the 50s and 60s. Fresh summer colors are combined with natural shades and fine fabrics alternated with flower prints. All items are characterised by highly finished details, and with a broad variety of garments there is an outfit for every occasion. Sophisticated and classic items translated to the SCAPA style with a modern twist.



To complete the event the guests were treated on a delightful lunch and a glass of champagne. The spring summer 2012 presentation was a preview of a lovely summer on an autumn day. Today we got to experience the SCAPA way of life, and what a life it is!

Benetton special autumn/winter 2011 collection

For this season United Colors of Benetton has developed an Autumn Winter 2011 special collection which celebrates the elegance of womanhood.

The special collection proposes soft-folk atmospheres with a modern, on-trend attitude. For the collection Benetton was inspired by delicate coloured feathers. These seem to settle lightly on shiny satin dresses, skirts and blouses.
Soft shapes complement the consistency of the fluid, comfortable fabrics.

For those who like classic snake-skin patterns the printed knitwear and sheer georgette offer new, refreshing options.


Comfortable, “intriguing” clothes with different weights and dimensions create feminine and sexy looks. The draping and darts on softly-styled tops and trousers complete your outfit.

Satin gives the eveningwear a sophisticated shimmer that can be found on asymetrically-cut tops, dresses and tunics printed with black-and-white jumbo roses.



For the rest of the collection typically male patterns were used such as the Prince of Wales check and herringbone. Applied to purely feminine styles this contrast ensures simple, well-proportioned looks.

Ming´s Pretty Heroes in New Yorker

On October 13, future leaders met current leaders from all areas of society during the TEDxRotterdam event at the Nieuwe Luxor Theatre in Rotterdam.

Ai Ming Oei is a singer and songwriter making alternative pop rock with her band Ming’s Pretty Heroes. As the official Music Ambassador of the city of Rotterdam in 2011, Ming tries to put talent from Rotterdam in the musical spotlight.

This time, by performing with her band and the Red Limo String Quartet on TEDxRotterdam.
She performed for over 1500 people last week, and as she did this in New Yorker clothing, we think she deserves some more attention!

Blackstone winter 2011 collection

This winter Blackstone brings you a collection based on their philosophy in which craftmanship, premium materials and pure designs are key items.





For men the range varies from comfortable sneakers and chukka boots to classic shoes and even firemen inspired boots.

S.T.Dupont `1001 nights´ Limited Edition

S.T.Dupont pays a homage to the celebrated masterpiece of Eastern literature: the tales of Thousand and One Nights.

Inspired by Persian culture and architecture, the 1001 Nights range is ornated with oriental decorations. The midnight blue lacquer colouring makes one think of a deep serene sky. The gold powder intensifies this dreamlike, tranquil deepness, creating the illusion of a celestial vault crowned with stars.



The 1001 nights collection contains a Ligne 2 lighter, Néo-Classique foutain pen and roller, a pen holder with paper cutter and an ink bottle. Every item comes in the limited number of 1001 pieces.

Press event New Yorker

Yesterday, on the 11th of October, New Yorker held a special event in Amsterdam for the press. During the day there was a spectacular workshop, the new spring/summer 2012 collection was shown and there were some good surprises!

Can you guess what the workshop was?


That´s right, we got an amazing graffiti workshop!

The theme of the day was `New York´ and so everyone had to create an artwork inspired by New York. But first everyone got to practice (which was a good thing as it is definately harder than it looks..)











After a good time of practicing and learning some insider-tips, everyone created their own artwork.







Before heading to the New Yorker shop for the second part of the event, we enjoyed some delicious mini hamburgs and fries. Served in these custom made New Yorker packages:





Transported by bicycle taxi´s, everyone arrived at the New Yorker store, where some more surprises were waiting for the press.

Of course the New York inspired artworks weren´t just made for fun, because a winner was announced.
The lucky winner was Evi from Girlscene, who won a lot of shopping vouchers!

Luckily there were vouchers in all the goodiebags, so everyone got a chance to shop whilst enjoying champagne and brownies. All of this was accompanied by a live performance by Ming.



We had a fantastic day and want to thank everyone for making this an event we´ll never forget. See you next season!
