Thinking green is something a lot of companies do these days but acting accordingly is what the Beneton Group is doing.
In 2011 the Benetton Group will produce six hundred tons of plastic less : this is the green result that Benetton Group will achieve by introducing innovative, lightweight liquid wood clothes hangers – 100% biodegradable and recyclable – in place of the plastic hangers usually used to display garments.

Not only the hangers are getting green also the bags. Since January 2010, customers buying from United Colors of Benetton stores have been taking their purchases home in a craft-white eco-friendly paper shopping bag, processed using water-based inks only, and sourced from an FSC certified paper factory, ensuring products are made using timber from forests that are controlled and managed according to the principles of social and environmental sustainability.

Björn Borg catwalk show & afterparty
Last Friday, February the 4th, the international Björn Borg catwalk show took place in the Endemol Studio's. An enormous location for a fantastic show!
Mark Ronson & The Business International performed live during the catwalk show. Suprise of the evening was Boy George coming on stage singing the song `Somebody To Love Me´.
The show was an explosion of color and girls were walking with big bottles of shampoo, guys with big sunglasses and tennis rackets. Stylist of the show Marije Goekoop made sure that the show wasn´t just underwear but a real Björn Borg experience.
After the show the afterparty kicked off! With acts from The Glimmers, Gelazer and Victor Coral it was hard not to dance.

JEROEN VanTUYL @Boutyq
Yesterday, February the 1st, the fourth edition of Boutyq took place in the Bagagehal at Loods 6.
Boutyq is a unique platform for Dutch and international designers to show their inspiration and collection. Participants of the fourth edition of Boutyq were: Francisco van Benthum, Unconditional, Jan Boelo and JEROEN VanTUYL.
Van Tuyl celebrates the 10th anniversary of his label this year. For A/W 2011 he was inspired by broken glass. A grey suit in shards print was developed in cooperation with Kiki van Eijk and EE labels and is one of the eye catchers in the collection.
Another catchy item is the pants and sleeveless top made of separate pieces of leather.

Sisley campaign SS2011 starring Marloes Horst
The Sisley label has turned once again to Terry Richardson for the photos of the new ad campaign for the SS2011 season.
Remarkable for this shoot is the fact that Richardson opened up the doors of his own loft in New York. To set the Sisley campaign within his private, day-to-day living gives a direct and sincere account of a life and of a creative idea.
The Sisley and Richardson partnership spans several years, heralding each season the style transformations of the label together with their creative and often sensational interpretation by the US photographer.

Benetton is among the exclusive participants Facebook has selected for the launch of Facebook Deals in Europe:
A new service which offers access to special promotions and initiatives available from the network of the over-3000 Benetton stores in Italy, Spain, France, Germany and the UK.
This new Facebook function allows smartphone owners who check-in to Facebook Places making direct contact with the Benetton world. Receive the latest news, special events, discounts and promos of United Colors of Benetton, Sisley and Playlife brands.
Anyone who surfs the Internet on their smartphone in the five above-mentioned countries (today there are over 200m people worldwide who surf the Web via mobile phone) can “check in” to their location to let their Facebook friends know where they are. They'll receive a message in real time about the nearest Benetton stores and an invitation for events, special offers and promos. They can share the message with their friends via Facebook.
For the debut of the online service, Benetton has chosen a Charity Deal in favour of Architecture for Humanity, an association which applies design and architecture to social projects.
