It should be summer but it's pooring rain in Amsterdam. We just received this clip made by Annegien van der Ende documenting the press event we did for Clarks Originals earlier this month. This perfect boat trip, Moke's accoustic performance and the new Originals collection makes us longing for summery days again. Enjoy!

KABK & Rietveld graduation
Last week we visited The Hague's KABK (Koninklijke Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten) graduation show. Not only graduation students showed their collections, but also 2nd and 3rd years. Some of them surprisingly good, refined and well executed. Also last year's students didn't disappoint. 4 collections of which the deconstructed men's collection of Nicolaas Hein and the modest collection of Lotte Mostert are our favorites.
Bastian Visch's impressionistic painted jacket (3rd year)
Christa van der Meer's conceptual collection (3rd year)
Lotte Mostert's graduation collection
At Amsterdam's Rietveld Academy 5 fashion students graduated. Pablo Londono Sarria's men's collection stood out most: a surprising mix of colorful streetwear and knitwear.

Fabrica at Venice Biennale
Fabrica, the communication research centre which since 1994 gives study grants to young creatives from around the world, presents the Posizione della Tigre (Position of the Tiger) installation from the Lana Sutra series by the young Cuban artist Erik Ravelo in the Italian pavilion at the 54th International Art Biennale of Venice.
Lana Sutra is a series of 15 installations intended as a celebration of love and of a desire for equality and sharing. The Posizione della Tigre is a plaster of Paris sculpture of a man and a women with different coloured threads wound around them. The contact between the two bodies, where the different colours mix and mingle, represents the pure, natural love which unites diversity and binds the whole of humankind in a single thread.
Art Biennale 2011
4 June – 27 November
Italian Pavilion
Venice Arsenale, 10am – 6pm
Closed on Mondays

New Yorker opens its 25th store in the Netherlands!
June 10 2011, New Yorker opened its 25th store in the Netherlands in the centre of Hoofddorp. Over more than 1000 m2 of shop floor New Yorker offers its customers a wide range of the latest trends from their own brands fishbone, fishbone sister, smog, amisu and censored.
On the opening day New Yorker had some great offers ready for the visitors.
A DJ from DJ School Zuid Holland made the shopping trip an unforgettable experience playing some cool beats. A slot machine gave the customers a chance to win very special prices. Furthermore there were interesting raffles and Wild FM made some people very happy with a voucher of 100 euro.
Old Hollywood glamour dictates the summer look 2011 for the New Yorker labels amisu and smog. Flared skirts, polka dot dresses and blouses and exaggerated waists make outfits both playful and elegant. Particular highlights include high-waisted denim skirts, hot pants in bright colours, such as red and fluttery blouses with submarine necklines or sweet corset-style tops. Men also get the retro 50s treatment á la James Dean this summer - stylish without overdoing it. Short-sleeved shirts and ties are twinned up with shorts, chinos with polo shirts or classic worn-look jeans with T-shirts and checked shirts.
“For us the store in Hoofdoorp is really important as it is a flagship store in the centre of the city which will give our custumers the possibility to find the latest trends in a surrounding of high and modern quality. We are really looking forward to this exciting opening”, says Kathrin Knape PR-Manager New Yorker.

ArtEZ graduation 2011
Last Friday we were in Arnhem to see the ArtEZ graduation show. 22 fashion design students showed their collection. The shows (5!) were held during Arnhem Mode Biennale in Akzo Nobel's empty factory.
We especially liked the men's collection of Anne Bosman, who already has work presented at Arnhem Mode Biennale's main exhibition.
Tom Nijhuis presented a collection inspired by skinhead girls. Surprising concept and one of few students whose choice for music, models and choreography was well thought-out.

Last week we organised a boat trip in Amsterdam for Clarks Originals. A picture report:
Glamour's Martien Mellema and Fiona Hering.
Bastiaan van Schaik and Clarks' marketing manager Judith van Kaathoven.
Moke!
Jackie's fashion director Renu Kashyap, Bastiaan van Schaik and LINDA's Djamilla van Brussel enjoying the lovely sunny weather.
Dutch band members of Moke are proud Originals fans. Their accoustic perfomance was greatly appreciated by the press. Within seconds Twitter and Facebook were overloaded.
Clarks Originals brand manager Darren Day talks to freelance journalist Esther Muller and CODE's editor in chief Peter van Rhoon.
After the boat trip DJ's spinned their records at Brug 9, where the fall winter 2011 collection was presented.
Karine Bloem, online editor for Glamour, and Elisah Jacobs, editor at Ilovefashionnews.com taking a close look at the new collection.
Velour's shop owners Jelle Lispet and Theodoor Kuster.
Clarks recently appointed creative director Paolo Gabrielli came over for the event. Here he explains his ideas for the spring/summer 2012 collection to Marie Claire's Marjolein Mos, freelance stylist Renske van der Ploeg and JAN's editor Charissa Hogerheijde.
