Piet Paris is awarded Marie Claire Prix de la Mode
Piet Paris has been awarded the Marie Claire Prix de la Mode 2009 in the category Best Fashion Ambassador. The prize is an important mark of recognition from a lead player in Dutch fashion journalism for Piet’s work as an illustrator, as Artistic Director of the Arnhem Fashion Biennale and as a mentor to many fashion designers.‘Piet believes that all Dutch people should know how multifaceted and important fashion is – and Marie Claire cannot help but agree with him,’ the jury stated in their report. ‘To achieve that goal he even sacrificed his shyness.’
This year’s other award winners include Missoni (Best Fashion House), Consuelo Castiglioni (Best International Designer) and Cato van Ee (Best Model). The awards ceremony took place during a dinner held at the Rijksmuseum in the midst of paintings by Dutch Old Masters.

Desert Boot turns 60
The famous Desert Boot of Clarks Originals celebrates its 60th birthday this season. We asked 16 Dutch and Belgian artists and celebrities to customize the iconic shoes. Here are some examples:
Piet Paris designed Desert Boots for Lily Allen.
Karen van de Kraats wrote facts and stories about deserts on the shoes.
Franky Claeys got inspired by a typical desert phenomenon: fata morgana.
This is your chance to get your hands on these unique celebration shoes: from 30 November on, the shoes will be auctioned via Clarks.nl and Clarks.be. All revenues will be given to Dutch charity organization War Child.
