Bas Kosters and Wolford
Last Friday the Dutch Fashion Awards took place in the beautiful old church in The Hague. Amongst the five nominees was the frivolous and extravagant Bas Kosters. For the styling Ruud van der Peijl chose to work with Wolford legwear.
Mauro Galligari, Founder of Studio Zeta Milano and member of the international jury awarded Kosters the International Incubator Award, motivating that "the winning designer showed a highly creative collection transmitting an explosive energy and modern creativity, at moments ironic, but pushing fashion boundaries.”
Congratulations, Bas!

Out now: COLORS 78
COLORS 78 is all about dance, dance in its many styles, symbolisms, languages and rituals, starting with the intimate and personal story of Cuban dancer and choreographer Carlos Acosta. Acosta, originally from Havana, is now the Principal Guest Artist of the Royal Ballet in London, and one of the most influential figures in international dance today.
Next to the interview with Carlos Acosta other amazing stories will be told in COLORS 78. Like the story of Beckii Cruel, she is a big fan of Japanese comics and one day she decided to post a video of herself online, dancing in her bedroom to the theme songs from Japanese cartoons. She soon became a star in Japan, performing live in front of tens of thousands of adoring fans, and even publishing a DVD. COLORS went to visit the girl whose life has been changed by YouTube.
Read about the Hip Hop Grannies, a multiple award-winning group of elderly performers who are reaping all the benefits - both physical and mental – of the famous Afro-American dance style.
Buy COLORS 78 at newsagents, bookshops and in the iTunes App Store from October 2010 in three bilingual editions (English + Italian, French or Spanish).

Piet Paris for Viktor & Rolf
Fashion illustrator Piet Paris designed the invitation, backdrop and catwalk for Viktor & Rolf's spring/summer 2011 collection presentation in Paris. Never On Wednesday was in Paris and took a close look.
Piet Paris and Viktor & Rolf /image: Peter Stigter
Paris wanted to capture the concept of the show in a lifesize sketchbook filled with contrasts.
Viktor & Rolf: "Piet was one of our teachers at the art academy. We immediately thought of him for this season's show, because of the graphic, crisp and colourful nature of the collection. His work is very graphic and sometimes borders on the abstract, but is also always extremely fashionable. We love the modern tension of that. We admire him for his authentic style, and it was a great pleasure to work with him.”

Watch the full show:
RTL Boulevard interviewed Piet Paris after the show. Paris talks about his characteristic way of work and his rendez-vous with Dutch princess Mabel. The item was broadcasted in their show last Monday.
