Opening Amsterdam International Fashion Week

Last Wednesday, MATTIJS opened the AIFW together with Jan Taminiau. Though it was raining outside of the Westergasfabriek, inside the festivity was going on with spectacular shows.

Mattijs van Bergen showed his A/W 2010 collection called 'Phoenix'. This mythological bird, together with icons like Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth, inspired the designer to bring the couture clothing of the fourties back to life. Black mini-skirts are worn with deconstructed old pink jackets, and complicated pleated dresses in gold and bright colours make women look seductive yet powerful. Eye-catcher of the show was a long black coat made of ostrich feathers. With its accentuated waists and shoulders, MATTIJS' clothes make every woman look like a goddess.

Van Bergen received a big compliment by Dutch newspaper 'Het Parool': the golden dress on the first picture has been chosen as 'Dress of the day' and will be shown in the window display of Amsterdam’s Maison de Bonneterie.
