Opening Amsterdam International Fashion Week
Last Wednesday, MATTIJS opened the AIFW together with Jan Taminiau. Though it was raining outside of the Westergasfabriek, inside the festivity was going on with spectacular shows.

Mattijs van Bergen showed his A/W 2010 collection called 'Phoenix'. This mythological bird, together with icons like Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth, inspired the designer to bring the couture clothing of the fourties back to life. Black mini-skirts are worn with deconstructed old pink jackets, and complicated pleated dresses in gold and bright colours make women look seductive yet powerful. Eye-catcher of the show was a long black coat made of ostrich feathers. With its accentuated waists and shoulders, MATTIJS' clothes make every woman look like a goddess.

Van Bergen received a big compliment by Dutch newspaper 'Het Parool': the golden dress on the first picture has been chosen as 'Dress of the day' and will be shown in the window display of Amsterdam’s Maison de Bonneterie.

ELLE 20 years in Holland
Yesterday evening Dutch ELLE Magazine celebrated its 20th birthday. Almost all fashionable attenders showed up according the dress code: little black dress and/or golden shoes.

The little black dress also was the inspiration for an exhibition in Rollan Didier's gallery. ELLE asked 20 Dutch photographers and ELLE contributors to shoot this iconic fashion item. Amongst them Oof Verschuren, Petrovsky & Ramone and Erwin Olaf. All prints are sold for 950 euro and the profit will be given to War Child.
The exposition is open for public: September 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 & 27 from noon till 5 PM. 2e Laurierdwarsstraat 64H.

The street party was interrupted by a special Diesel Black Gold performance to congratulate ELLE.

ELLE 20 comes out with 6 covers starring cover model Doutzen Kroes. We can't help but prefer the cover with MATTIJS's dress on it!

ELLE 20 is available in shops from today on. Buy this 372 pages thick collectors issue and you might win 20.000 euro shopping money to spend in Maison de Bonneterie!
